When does Ishbaa’ happen? Why does the word فِيهِۦ in surah Al-furqan have ishbaa’?
Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatu Allahi taala wa barakatuh,
Today I have two questions, one concerning Ishab’ and the other one concerning the last video in Advanced Tajweed.
Ishba’ question: Last time you clarified and you explained that the reason why some words that end with the pronoun ه still don’t get ishba’ because it may fall between two letters and that the letter before it may have Sukoon, like the Ayah أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ.
However, in the Ayah ” وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ” The ه is preceded by a ي and followed by a Laam with Fatha, this Ayah doesn’t get Ishba’. But in the other Ayah ” وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِۦ مُهَانًا” The same thing occurs, the only difference is that the ه is followed by a مُ.
Please clarify why does one have Ishba’ and the other one doesn’t may Allah reward you. Sorry again.
The Answer
Wa alikom asslam wa rahmatu Allahi taala wa barakatuh,
Alhamdulilah
The rule you mentioned is 100% correct. The aya you mentioned from surah الفرقان is the only exception in the Quran. It doesn’t follow the rule (there shouldn’t be ishbaa’ in that position, yet there is), but that’s how the Prophet عليه الصلاة و السلام read it, and we are keeping it this way, of course. But the rules remains the rule for the rest of the Quran.
Allah knows best.
