This following is the class etiquette that we require from students, and it is what we expect teachers to make sure that students are indeed following these guidelines:
As Arabic101, we always strive for the best quality and try our best to uphold the honor of the Quran and the respect due to its teachers. That’s why, we kindly ask you to observe the following guidelines when during our live classes. We operate by the principles of:
- Ikhlaas (Sincerity): Seeking Allah’s pleasure in all learning and teaching.
- Amanah (Honesty): Both teachers and students do their best to maximize benefit and use the time available to get closer to Allah.
- Adab (Respect): Mutual respect is to be observed, but even more so toward teachers. If there’s no respect to the holder of knowledge, no learning process can take place.
- Consistency (Istiqamah): Committing to regular, serious learning attitude. Learning the Quran is not a hobby, it is a respected act pulling you closer to Allah.
1. Respect for the Quran
- Always approach the class with the intention of honoring the words of Allah ﷻ, and as a parent talk to your young ones about that.
- Avoid lying down, slouching, or displaying casual body language during Quran recitation or teaching.
- If you have Mushaf in front of you, make sure you have wudu’.
2. Camera Etiquette
- Keep your camera on at all times (unless instructed otherwise).
- (For children) Do not use face filters, effects, avatars, or anything that distorts or distracts from your appearance.
- Make sure you are dressed appropriately, as you would in a real classroom.
3. Food and Drink
- Eating or snacking during class is not allowed. This includes chewing gum.
4. Background and Environment
- Join from a quiet and clean space free from distractions and background noise.
- Avoid attending class from bed or while walking around. Find a stable and respectful place to sit.
- Notify others around you that you’re in a Quran class to minimize interruptions.
5. Punctuality and Attendance
- Arrive on time, ready, and prepared with your materials.
- Repeated lateness or unexplained absences may lead to warnings or removal from the program.
6. Respect for the Teacher
- Speak politely and clearly when addressing the teacher.
- Follow all instructions given during the lesson without arguing or resisting.
- Avoid sarcasm, jokes, or informal talk when the focus is on the Quran or religious content.
- Give your full attention to the class. Avoid browsing, texting, or multitasking.
7. Technical Responsibility
